The cuisine at Momo Restaurant Familial sparked British interest in every element of North African & Middle Eastern food and culture. Our menus are created to represent traditional North African & Middle Eastern cuisine, alongside more contemporary dishes using the region’s local ingredients and spices. The result is a collection of North African food fit for a king, which makes a statement without being overly exotic.
Momo’s award winning Kemia bar continues to stun and delight London’s luminaries and regulars alike. Kemia’s highly skilled mixologists serve up unrivalled signature cocktails including the famous ‘Momo Special’, a refreshing blend of vodka, fresh mint, gum syrup and soda water as well as the exotic ‘Marrakech O’ Marrakech’ a combination of Bacardi rum, fresh mint, gum syrup and Pommery champagne.
Create sumptuous Maghrebin culinary dishes at home, with the Momo Cookbook – A Journey through North Africa, which leads the reader on a cultural and visually stunning journey through Maghreb. The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2002 awarded it the ‘Best Mediterranean Cookbook in the World’.
The Momo cookbook contains eighty-eight authentic North African recipes which allow the reader to make these spicy and aromatic dishes at home. Each chapter concentrates on the food of a particular region - Morocco, Algeria or Tunisia - and text from the award-winning author Janine di Giovanni relates the recipes to the rich history and culture of these remarkable regions.
Some of the delicious dishes which can be recreated include lamb ribs with coriander crust and tagine mqualli of beef and fennel. There are also 'modern' dishes inspired by authentic North African cooking and recently created in the restaurant such as croustillant of skate with cucumber and coriander and sea bass fillet with tabbouleh and citrus juice.
The Momo cookbook provides an exciting opportunity to experiment with the spices and subtle flavours of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, but the rich location photography and detailed desciptions of life there means it is much more than just a cookbook - it is also a fascinating evocation of the spirit of North Africa.
